From a seedling to forest elder, THE GIANTS interweaves Bob Brown’s extraordinary life with the story of the ancient forests he is fighting for, featuring award winning cinematography and stunning animation.
3.30pm – Defiance: Bob Brown in conversation
Bob Brown joins Jen Barry on the BMEC stage to talk about his book, Defiance. Drawing on his experiences celebrating and defending nature, Bob shares stories to galvanise, uplift and inspire.
4.30pm – Book signing with Bob Brown in the BMEC foyer
Robert James “Bob” Brown is a former Australian politician, environmentalist, and medical doctor who was elected to the Australian Senate in 1996. He was also the first openly gay member of Australia’s parliament and the first openly gay leader of an Australian political party. In 2012, Brown retired from the Senate and stepped down as Australian Greens party leader. He established the Bob Brown Foundation, a nonprofit organization focusing on wildlife and the environment.
