Compareo is BMECs’ inclusive arts program, providing an exciting opportunity for people with disability to explore performance skills. BMEC has partnered with local artist Catherine McNamara, who is a performing arts facilitator for people with disability, to deliver a mixed abilities performing arts program for young people living in the Central West. The program consists of weekly group classes as well as an invited ensemble each week in Bathurst.

Participants will develop drama and voice skills, sing songs, dance and make friends in this supportive weekly class.

The pace of how we progress through the workshops and ensemble work will be dictated by the participants. We may have guest artists running some specialised sessions. All facilitators will provide an empowering environment and achievable goals for each participant. Carers are encouraged to attend.

There are three ways to engage in Compareo – you can join our one-hour skill building class, you can engage in a private class, or you may be selected to join the ensemble.

It is hoped all participants will have the opportunity to perform in a piece at BMEC each year with the ensemble group having performance as its focus.

The cost of the 1-hour skill building workshop is $250 per term. There are two classes available each Tuesday. Either from 9:45am-10:45am or from 1:30pm – 2:30pm.

The ensemble class is from 11am – 1pm each Tuesday at a cost of $350 per term.

Bookings for private lessons are to be negotiated.

For those already attending  Compareo you may continue to pay your fees in weekly instalments until the end of 2023. For all new members please pay fees up front. You can pay via Box Office in person or by calling 6333 6161.

Classes are held onsite at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre, 105 William St Bathurst NSW 2795.
