Blueberry Play
Being 17 is awkward. Having to take care of your sick dad when you’re 17 is another story. Especially when he keeps trying to shave his eyebrows off.
Blueberry Play is the Griffin Award-shortlisted play from playwright Ang Collins, presented in a brand new smash-hit production from regional new work powerhouse Lingua Franca.
A monologue for a solo performer (the astonishing Madelaine Osborn), Blueberry Play is a vivid and heart-bursting monologue that explores the high highs and the low lows of being a teenage girl in a small town. From the public pool to the locker rooms at school to back home where things are just a bit topsy-turvy, this is an Aussie coming-of-age story with a refreshing twist.
A play for anyone that remember what it feels like being a young person, Blueberry Play is heart-rending, intimately observed, often hilarious, and packaged in a powerful one-person performance, and an absolutely unforgettable night out at the theatre.
This production was originally supported by Upstage at the Playhouse, a new work development initiative from the Civic Theatre Newcastle.
