Sun Rising: The Birthplace of Rock & Roll was the brainchild of good friends and musicians, Damon Smith and David Cosma, and was written after numerous passionate conversations about the studio and the need for someone to perform the music, as authentically as possible, to the thousands of fans of Sun Records, and the era in which it was born.

The show pays homage to the greatest recording studio in the history of music, Sun Records in Memphis and celebrates the songs and stories that pay tribute to the early music of Sun Records. Sun Rising: The Birthplace of Rock & Roll features incredible musical performances, a brilliant narrative and stunning renditions of some of the world’s most loved music.  Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Barbara Pittman, Roy Orbison and many more, all started their careers at Sun Records under the watchful guidance of studio owner and producer, Sam Phillips. It truly is an incredible story!

It has toured Australia extensively, playing sold out shows at performing arts centres and theatres as well as headlining several international renown festivals including the Parkes Elvis Festival.

Along with their seasoned band members, Lisa Marmur, Trent McKenzie, Adam Coad and Adrian Whyte, Smith and Cosma enjoy independent music careers which have seen them share stages with Bernard Fanning, Johnny Diesel, Wilbur Wilde, Normie Rowe, Frankie J Holden, the Whitlams and more. Between them they have recorded and released numerous albums that have featured on television, broadcasted internationally and won multiple awards.

"An utter belter of a show!!!"
