The Strangeways Ensemble is Merrigong’s permanent company of professional actors with a disability, and Wollongong’s only professional theatre ensemble.

Over two weekends in January and April 2024 ensemble members are coming to Bathurst with guest artists to run fun, original workshops in performance for young people aged 12-24 with a disability!

Over the weekend you will have a chance to:

  • warmup with some of the ensemble’s favourite games and routines before busting out your favourite dance moves
  • show off what makes you stand out from the crowd – eyebrow gymnastics, vocal impressions, original jokes, anything goes
  • tell a story – it can be “funny ha-ha” or “funny strange” true or totally made up
  • sing your own song working closely with guest artists to put your improvised lyrics to music on the spot
  • work together on building rhythms with a range of percussion instruments
  • take all the above and begin to turn it into short performance to share on Sunday afternoon
