Graham’s tribute to legend Kenny Rogers, no gamble for fans Radio personality, Ray Hadley, believes that Graham Toole is “worthy of a broader audience,” & Frank Ifield gave him the international spur award in 2004. I love performing live, so the more shows the better, we hope to give our audience something they can sing along to, tap their feet & to smile about” he added. Growing up in chilly Oberon he got a taste of the limelight performing as a child at the Local eisteddfods and it brings back wonderful memories.
Performing as a kid with Ray Callaghan’s dance band at bowling clubs and the like, I was a soprano back then and always loved a live audience. “That’s the thing about these old performers like Ray they were masters of this craft, they were there to entertain you, they were very professional” Graham said, adding that he has been honored to watch many of his country heroes live over the years. While Kenny Rogers is a particular favorite, he covers a range of stars from the time when country performers often had huge hits on the pop charts as well as the country charts. Having a six-piece backing band, as well as Kenny, we threw in John Denver, Glen Campbell, & his Jimmy Webb Classics like MacArthur Park, the occasional Elvis tune as well. “I try and build that persona of the performer around me, you have to continually work on that, but I don’t try to be Elvis.” He laughs.
My goal is to give everyone a good night, I have been blessed, & I hope to offer something special to people who come along and see me.
