THE MAN IN THE PARK
MONOLOGUE WRITING COMPETITION

Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre (BMEC) is a cultural facility of Bathurst Regional Council. We are planning on creating a new touring theatre production of a small series of monologues under the title The Man in The Park. We are looking for regional playwrights to script a monologue somewhere between 5-10 minutes in length. The monologue is to be performed by only one actor.

Many country towns across Australia, like Bathurst, have a central park in the town that is an important part of community life. It is full of fascinating and boring people at all times of the day and night, all year round. We are looking to meet these unique characters and hear their stories through a series of monologues written by regional Australian playwrights. This is about bringing regional stories to the stage.

BMEC is offering $400 each to the best 16 entries along with a 1 of 16 share of 10% of royalties to the net box office of any future tour for a period of 8 years.

Entries are now closed.
