Australian Poetry Slam - BATHURST

The Australian Poetry Slam is here again!

Australian Poetry Slam (APS) is a live literary performance program where the audience chooses the champion. APS is run by Word Travels, a Sydney based literary organisation.

APS began in 2005 and has grown into an internationally-renowned poetry slam. BMEC and Bathurst Library are thrilled to bring APS to Bathurst again in 2022.

A workshop with one of Australia’s Poetry Slam Champions will take place from 3-5pm on the day.

You can register to attend the workshop or  register your interest in performing or being an audience member only.

Please note that there are limited spots available for performers and we cannot guarantee that everyone will get to perform – we will be in touch with performance poets directly regarding this if needed.

How it works?

The Bathurst heat will take place at the Bathurst Library  (depending on  Covid-19 restrictions) or It maybe online this year – please register your interest as an audience member or as a poet and we can let you know!

Performers will get 2 minutes to wow the crowd and impress the judges.

The top scoring poets will then go into the regional heat.
