The Aboriginal Performing Arts Program (APAP) aims to encourage and assist engagement of local Aboriginal people in the performing arts.
APAP acknowledges Aboriginal "grass roots" tradition as the basis upon which engagement will be built. APAP aims to develop opportunities for local Aboriginal people by providing access to existing resources supported by the broader community such as BMEC and its programs. It is intended that these resources will be used as a basis to develop programs, employment opportunities and facilities which are governed and maintained by the local Aboriginal community for the benefit of all local Aboriginal people.
The APAP program commenced in September 2010 with a weeklong festival of workshops and performances. Since that time it has supported many dance, film, circus and visual arts workshops and the annual Gamarra visual arts exhibition.
